‘The X Factor’ UK notes: Ellie Goulding to perform; Ben Haenow’s comments, no fifth judge

The latest news -We will start this edition of “X Factor” notes first and foremost with a reminder of the weekend’s featured performer: Ellie Goulding. One of the biggest stars in British music, Goulding is set to appear this weekend on the results show. There’s not too much else to say about her for now, but we will discuss her participation further when it rolls around to the right time to do so.

Want some other headlines? Then read on…

No fifth judge – While there were fervent rumors regarding whether or not Simon Cowell and company were going to institute a rotating celebrity guest judge on the live shows, it’s not happening. This was confirmed by The Sun, with it being labeled an idea that was discussed, but is not going to come to fruition.

Are we sad about this? Not in the slightest, since this felt like an absolutely miserable concept from the moment we heard about it. Sometimes, we feel like we don’t even need there to be four judges offering up regurgitated feedback, let alone five.

Ben Haenow nostalgic for Dermot O’Leary – Some tabloids are blowing Ben’s comments out of proportion by making it seem like he is on the attack on new hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, and that is not the case. Instead, this is what the reigning champ told The Sun:

“I miss Dermot. He was presenting the show the year I won, so he’s obviously got a special place in my heart. It’s not the same without him.”

Personally, we’re right there with him. We love Olly and Caroline more for “The Xtra Factor,” and really don’t feel like emceeing the main show has to be more than a one-person job.
