‘Criminal Minds’ season 11, episode 6 review: Is Tara Lewis leaving the BAU team?

Criminal MindsOn last week’s episode of “Criminal Minds” we had a little more movement on one of our team members personal life – something that we haven’t had much of this season. Tara Lewis is the newest member of the team and so far we know very little about her, but now we know that her engagement to Douglas is over as her commitment to her job got in the way of her having any kind of life outside of it. Is this decision permanent?

Hotch tells Tara that she has an opportunity to lead a research team through director at the Attorney General, but that she would have to leave the BAU team pretty much immediately. She’s not sure that she wants to do that even though it’s a great opportunity. Tara hasn’t been with the team that long, but she’s already feeling at home with everyone and that she has a lot to still contribute and we have to agree. We can’t wait for JJ to come back, but couldn’t we could keep Tara as well?

When Rossi hears about the offer that Tara has gotten, he talks to her about it saying that she has to figure out where she can do the most good, while at the same time doing herself the least amount of harm and then base her decision on that. The case of the week brings her down… way down, but Morgan tries to pump her up and convince her to stay. What is she going to do?

She talks to Hotch and tells him that she doesn’t want to leave the team and he tells her that he’s made it so that she can do both, lead the research team and work part time with the BAU unit too. It’s starting to look like we might get our dream of keeping Tara and having JJ back as well – at least we are hoping that is where this is going. Episode grade: B-
