‘The X Factor’ UK review: Did 4th Impact, BEKLN Mile, New Kings Order make live shows?

Cheryl -

Tonight, the Judges’ Houses stage of “The X Factor” is being done just a little bit differently. It’s a live show for one, at least in part. The performances were all recorded previously, but the results of it are going to announced today. Think of this as a way for the show to avoid spoilers.

We’re going to break these down for the most part by category, which we think should be a great deal of fun. Check back throughout the night, as we are going to have some updates from start to finish. We’re starting with Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini and the Groups, who are all new in a way since they all had to change their names for legal reasons.

4th Impact – Wonderful harmonies, and this was the first time that we actually saw them start a little softer in a performance. This was a nice change! They’re locks to go through, if for no other reason than that Cheryl has to know they’ll be huge draws in the vote.

Alien Uncovered – Weird new name, but they’re still delightfully original as a group. Like with the newly-named 4th Impact, you can really tell that they have put in the world to make this as great as possible.

Melody Stone – Formerly Silver Tone, they gave a soulful, competent performance. The problem is just that after watching the two groups before them, we’re not sure if anything popped that we’ll remember down the road.

BEKLN Mile – They’ve been our favorite all-male group this season, but there were a few wobbly moments during this particular performance. We think they’ve got the vocal talent to be really gone, but much like Melody Stone, the qualm may be if they are innovative and interesting enough.

Reggie & Bollie – Clearly, they’re the worst singers of the bunch. This song choice even took away some of their fast-paced party antics and showed their vocal limitations. Still, they’re fun, and we’ll give them a little bit of a shot because of that charisma.

New Kings Order – The new name is awkward to say. They’re very good singers, but are they a little bit too dated with their style and song choice? We understand that argument, we think that there is something to be said for bringing something back.

Results – Cheryl took 4th Impact, Alien Uncovered, and … Reggie & Bollie? Seriously? We probably would’ve taken BEKLN Mile, but we suppose that Cheryl wants someone to be the fun, energetic act in the live shows.
