‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7, episode 5 preview: Michael Weatherly guest stars in ‘Blame It on Rio’

Given that Michael Weatherly originally filmed his guest appearance on “NCIS: Los Angeles” a rather long time ago, we admittedly thought that his episode was going to air before next week. Luckily, it’s almost here! “Blame It on Rio” is the title for the installment, and while you’ve probably seen the synopsis below in other forms, feel free to enjoy it below anyway:

“NCIS Special Agent DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) partners with the NCIS: Los Angeles team to search the city after his prisoner escapes custody on a flight from Singapore to Los Angeles.”

Given the timing of when this episode was filmed, the first thing that we can say about this is that you really shouldn’t expect this to have any impact on any long-term storylines. This is meant to be an entertaining one-off, a way to celebrate the entire franchise. There’s something really fun about seeing scenes with Tony and some of these other characters. It’s a different way of doing things on the West Coast, and through most of “NCIS” season 13 we’ve certainly seen a great deal of tension between him and Agent Gibbs in the wake of his recovery.

We’re not sure when we will have another crossover like this thanks to the fact that these two shows have busy production cycles; therefore, we suggest that you just enjoy this episode for what it is, and hope that maybe one other character from the original finds their way over before season 7 comes to a close.
