‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 premiere reaction: Will more death arrive in Alexandria?

twdAt the end of the season 6 premiere of “The Walking Dead,” we had our first death of the season in Carter. Was it a particular major one? Not really, though we did expect the character to be around for a stretch of time longer than he was.

Is this supposed to be some sort of precursor to a variety of other big deaths to come? This is something that you have to wonder almost every season, given that you’ve got an enormous cast and as we get further and further into the run, you would think that the herd of the living would start to thin a little bit. While show executive producer / comic writer Robert Kirkman would not say one way or another that there is more death this season, he did pass the following message along after the premiere to The Hollywood Reporter:

“I hesitate to say that there’s more death this this season but I haven’t crunched the numbers. There’s certainly a lot of death this season but I don’t know if it’s more or less than any other season. We’re always looking for new and interesting ways [to kill off characters]. That’s part of the show and moving into the sixth season, we keep things exciting, refreshing and new. I’m confident that all of our deaths this season up our game, they evolve the story when we need them to and they’re definitely going to surprise people.”

Is there anyone in particular that we’re worried about? We’d say probably the likes of Eugene, Rosita, Father Gabriel, and maybe even Morgan. The show has that core cast that has been around for so long that there’d be revolts if one of them left; as for everyone else left, they feel like fair game.
