TV Quick Hits: Kevin James back on TV; ‘Banshee’ season 4 premiere date; ‘The Librarians’ trialer

CBS -

Kevin James returning to CBS – In some ways, it feels like an inevitability that the former star of “The King of Queens” would make it back onto television. The fact that it is the same network that really skyrocketed the career only makes the situation all the more perfect.

The network has confirmed that they have given a 13-episode order to a comedy starring James as a retired police officer, who returns home and discovers that there are even more problems at home than there were for him while out fighting crime. He will executive-producer the show alongside Rick Reuben and Bruce Helford, the showrunner who recently was a part of “Anger Management” on FX.

In a statement, new CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller had the following to say (per Deadline):

“We’re beyond thrilled to be back in business with Kevin James! … He’s an incredibly talented star on every screen and every stage, who appeals to a broad audience. We can’t wait to start working with Kevin and the amazing comedy talents of Bruce Helford and Rock Reuben on this exciting new project.”

“Banshee” final season premiere date – Season 4 is set to start on Friday, January 29. Start preparing now! Here is what co-creator Jonathan Tropper had to say in a statement:

Banshee has been an incredible ride, and we continue to break new ground in Season 4 … While we certainly considered returning for a fifth season, I always said that when the story was told, it would be time to move on, and that time has come.”

“The Librarians” trailer – The new season is going to be starting off on Sunday, November 1, but you can check out the brand-new trailer right now!
