‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 2 preview: Leonard and Penny try to work it out

While we know that Sheldon and Amy are going to be spending some time on “The Big Bang Theory” apart thanks to their recent breakup, the sneak peek below from Monday night’s new episode is about a couple that is still together. Specifically, we are talking here about Leonard and Penny.

Yes, the two were in fact married at the end of the premiere, but it was far from the most-romantic wedding we’ve ever seen. Not only did it take place in a blink of an eye in Las Vegas, but it was marred entirely by Leonard revealing that the woman that he kissed was Mandy, someone he actually works with on a fairly regular basis. He still sees her, and this is clearly not something Penny is comfortable with.

So how are the two going to restore order? This is what the sneak peek is all about. At first, Sheldon suggests to the two that Penny should go and find another man to kiss to restore the balance, and she actually (perhaps jokingly) agrees with him. Granted, we feel like she may feel a little bit differently when Sheldon suggests that he be the person to kiss. Hey, he’s single! Sorry, ‘shppers: We have a hard time thinking that this is going to happen.

What we do know will take place in this episode is at least some appearance by Mandy herself, and probably a conversation that helps Penny to move forward. We were actually surprised at first that the show decided to cast someone in this role in fear that they would be ruthlessly attacked by fans, but now that we see where the story is going, it makes some sense why they needed this character around.
