‘The Originals’ season 3 spoilers: Is there hope for Hayley and Elijah?

“The Originals” is a show where love is clearly a component, but if there is one thing that we’ve come to know, it is that this is not exactly a love story first and foremost. Sometimes things get in the way of true love, even if the characters both have the right intentions and the right feelings.

For Hayley and Elijah, this is definitely the case more so than almost any other pair. After all, you’ve got everything from Klaus’ commandeering presence to Hayley being cursed standing right now in the way of something happen. This is without even mentioning the fact that Hayley is actually married at the moment to someone else in Jackson.

Still, there’s never a reason to give up hope completely, even if it is something that may take a long time to actually happen. Speaking on the odds of Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin’s characters finding each other in season 3, executive producer Julie Plec said the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“There’s always hope for Haylijah in the way that we planted the seeds for a relationship that clearly wants to happen … It’s just blocked by a ridiculous amount of obstacles … I wouldn’t say they’ll never get together, because I think they have and at some point, they will again. Now, it’s really just a matter of how can Jackson and Hayley find happiness in their marriage when there is that silent elephant in the room.”
