‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12: Ellen Pompeo (and an umbrella) take center stage
Why can’t Ellen Pompeo anchor a promotional poster for “Grey’s Anatomy“? This is something that the actress herself wondered in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, talking about the backlash that the show received over the exit of Derek (Patrick Dempsey), and whether or not it was really possible for the show to go on without him. In the latest poster, we feel like both Pompeo and ABC are making it very clear that she can.
As far as this new poster (via TVLine) goes, we do feel like it is for the most part very effective. With her umbrella, you can see that Meredith Grey is is so many ways prepared for the worst, and why wouldn’t she be? All you have to do is look at some of her history here to know that she has a reason to be concerned over the future, given losing Derek, her mother, Lexie, and other people she has cared about over the years.
Yet, you’ve got the sunshine serving as a clear reminder to Meredith that maybe letting her guard down wouldn’t be all that bad. Maybe there is still a reason to embrace the future, and there is a lot that you can look ahead for. We especially like the focus here on her eyes.
If we’re thinking logically, then the umbrella does make definite sense. This is, after all, a show that is set in Seattle. Nobody knows rain / miserable weather quite like these folks do.
The new season premieres on September 24, and right away you will see a story that features Meredith living with Amelia and Maggie, trying to further along her career after everything that has happened to her.
