‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: More on how Malcolm Merlyn enters the picture
At the end of “Arrow” season 3, it was pretty clear that for Malcolm Merlyn, things were changing … and in an incredibly dramatic way. He no longer was a man in hiding; instead, the Dark Archer became the Head of the Demon in the League of Assassins after Ra’s al Ghul was killed, and Oliver Queen decided to depart the organization.
So what exactly can you expect to see from him next? We know that he is going to have at least some sort of role in the resurrection of Sara Lance given his latest job title, but you cannot forget in the process that he also has a part to play as Thea Queen’s father. In speaking more on this to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim passed along the following message:
“The best way to put it is its father knows worst … Malcolm comes into the story very much more in the role of Thea’s father than in the role of the Head of the League of Assassins. It’s so much fun to play with Malcolm as dad because his choices are just very unusual. Much to the chagrin of Thea, he doesn’t handle things the way a typical father would.”
We feel like we can keep our message here for the most part simple: So long as we get more John Barrowman in our lives, we’re going to be happy. He is one of the show’s best actors week in and week out, and there is something that is always fun about a villain that you can never pin down completely … especially when it’s not clear if he is fully a villain at all anymore.
