‘Longmire’ season 5: On renewal hopes and season 4 review coverage
Given that we are about to embark on a ten-day “Longmire” adventure, we thought we’d spend a minute or two beforehand setting up what could be in store here at CarterMatt … and also what is coming in terms of the show’s long-term future.
First, let’s dive into season 4. Starting later today, we’re going to be beginning our daily review coverage of the show. Some of you we imagine are going to be binge-watching it and will be done even before we are, but we are trying to pace ourselves somewhat here. Also, it becomes harder to differentiate one episode from the next if we were to watch them all at once and try to put together separate reviews. A good place to go back and look for them is our show archive.
Now, let’s look a little bit further at what the future for the show itself could be. Is it possible that we get news of a season 5 renewal soon? It’s probably not happening right away. The show has a new home on Netflix, and we feel like they will want to take a little bit of time to analyze how original episodes do on the service. They were clearly seeing enough to want to order a fourth season based on streams of repeats, but it is really hard to gauge their decisions when they don’t release any data about the performance of their programming.
For now, we know that season 4 is not meant to be the final season, so our advice is to just enjoy the programming that you have for now, and be hopeful for the future.

How many times do I have to re-watch the entire season to convince Netflix that there needs to be a fifth season? Because I’m up for it. Whatever it takes.

Ok, I admit it, we binged on Season 4 and the ending, if you thought 3 had a cliff hanger, 4 will blow your toenails off! It is a wonderful series and we enjoy it tremendously. The stories are involved but not to a point that you lose track, the acting is natural and very believable. I hope the A & E becomes very uncomfortable that they lost this series, I think it is another “Star Trak” sort of decision.

This is a rare show that started out ok (main reason for sharp ratings/viewership dropoff and eventual cancellation) but became a very good show with a great blend of weekly exciting cases and series wide story arcs. This show could very well wind up being a modern day western classic series if the writers can keep going and possibly even bettering the already improved writing with stable quality stories. This show has potential to be in the ranks of shows like Breaking Bad and The Wire. I can see the writing potential. If it does it will be a truly unique story in its own right for the series. Going from a decent run of the mill basic cable offering to improving and cancellation, rebirth on Netflix and even further improvement in series quality to premium cable levels. Lets hope for an excellent season 5 and hopefully 6.

I am trying really hard ‘not’ to binge, because I was in a strange pain, waiting till season 4, I re watch episodes and thought about it obsessively. I think if we don’t get our episode fix’s we are gonna need support groups LEA (Lonemire episode addicts) I mean anonymous. So far I have paced myself but my husband is probably going to pull us into the binge he’s showing signs of weakening. You know I can see Lonemire becoming a modern day Gun Smoke!!

Who doesn’t like this show? I don’t usually binge watch but I just couldn’t stop. It was too long since the end of season 3. Can’t Netflix release these as they’re made? I certainly don’t want to rush things though. Everything is brilliant. The cinematography is incredible. The writing a perfect balance of action, suspense, drama and character development with a constant yin/yang of spirituality. “I love my life. I hate my life.” The cast couldn’t be finer. Every actor is at their very best, every episode. Shouldn’t this program get an award or something?

I like you are looking down the road for a season 5, because well they can’t just leave us hanging that just because someone sees a marking(scar, tattoo etc.) on another person, that doesn’t technically mean it is the person they want us and Walt to think it is, so I’m hoping Netflix signs on some more seasons because well I won’t put a spoiler on who I miss in Season 4 of Longmire..
