‘Shark Tank’ revisited: Myself Belts, Titan, Bearbrand, Grace & Lace, Singtrix
This week is certainly a rich one for anyone who is a fan of “Shark Tank.” ABC has repeated an episode every day this week, and that is continuing Wednesday night with an episode that previously repeated on the network earlier this year. We don’t like to do update articles unless more than six months have passed (there’s gotta be some time for the business to grow), but this episode fits right in that window.
One of the reasons why this particular update article is so fun to do is because we do think that there are at least some products in here that are continuing to show growth; while we wouldn’t buy them personally, we know that some other people would.
Titin – Given that the Dallas Mavericks are listed as one of their clients, you have to think that they are doing fairly well for themselves now and some of the initial concerns that were there in the tank about this weight-training system are now gone. Their website has some slick new enhancements, and they are selling more products.
BeardBrand – They’ve added more products since we last saw them on the show, and we feel like they’ve got a nice niche business going. We feel like there is only a select market out there for people with bears who actually want to properly care for them, but they’re doing a good job cornering what is out there.
SingTrix – The good news is that it seems like this singing / harmonizing party game is getting better distribution this year, which is really good if it wants to be a hot-ticket item this Christmas. The downside is that we think that they still have the same problem that they’ve had from the beginning: We wouldn’t pay $350 for the full product. It’s really probably worth $150-$200 to some, but it’s a huge investment in something you may only use at a few parties.
Myself Belts – Easily the product with the most mass-market appeal. What they’ve really done over the past several months that is smart is expanding outward from kids’ belts to also providing belts for adults. This is extremely useful for people with physical ailments who may struggle with fastening a normal belt. It’s a great move to provide further independence for some out there.
Grace and Lace – They will be featured in an update, and it’s hard for us to really determine just what else they have done in the past six months. That’s mostly a testament to the success they had already!
