‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: More on the rise of the Riddler
There are a pretty wide array of things worth looking forward to on the second season of “Gotham,” and with a motto like “Rise of the Villains,” it is pretty safe to assume that terrible people doing terrible things is going to be one of the main themes of the story.
One of the people who we certainly know is capable of said things is Edward Nygma, who spent the better part of season 1 being creepy before starting to finally let his true form start to shine through near the end after obsessing over Kris Kringle. In a way, this inner darkness may empower him, and create some extremely dangerous situations for anyone who does ultimately come into some contract with him in an adversarial way.
For some other news on that, you don’t have to look any further than a recent tease via Cory Michael Smith, who plays the character on the show, to TVLine:
“Edward [Nygma]’s darker voice is going to manifest itself, and very literally there will be two Eds, contending with each other.”
One of the fun things about Nygma now is that there is no more ambiguity, and while we imagine that you will see some of his good side come out here and there (especially if something actually happens with Kringle), he is not someone who is just going to turn around at this point. We know who he becomes, and this show is not going to be one to take away a popular Batman villain early.
