‘Ink Master’ season 6, episode 11 preview: The fingernail flash challenge

Ink MasterThere are only eight contenders remaining on this season of “Ink Master,” and as we move into Tuesday night’s new episode, the artists are going to face one of their trickiest flash challenges that they have encountered to date: Trying to find a way to create consistency on one of the tiniest places on the human body: Fingernails.

There are so many things that will feel strange about this challenge right away to the artists, as evidenced by the sneak peek below. First and foremost, you are in a church of all places! That’s not exactly synonymous with tattooing, and there are many religious in general who frown severely upon the art in any form. Then, you have the difficult nature of the challenge itself. While the fingernail tattoos are permanent in a way, the nails do eventually grow out and the ink goes away. The human canvases are all tattoo-free, so they will have to deal a little bit with some of that anxiety.

We imagine that a few will rise to the occasion and manage to precisely what Dave Navarro orders them to do: Create one design on one set of five fingernails, and then another design on the other. You have to be creative, and the consistency theme rings true even more when you remember that not all nails are the same size, and the work on the pinky has to be as good as the work on the thumb.

We’ll be back tomorrow night with a review of this episode, and it already appears like this is going to be one of the more competitive ones of the season.
