‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Is this one of the best ways to ‘confirm’ castings out there?

LogoHBO has always been secretive when it comes to the production of “Game of Thrones,” but this time around they may as well be Fort Knox! Since the show is tapping into so much unknown material, they have to do even more to keep almost everything a secret.

One bit of information that did manage to come out over the course of the past several days is that Pilou Asbaek, who has appeared on “The Borgias” and many other shows, was cast in the supposed role of Euron Greyjoy. This isn’t a huge spoiler to get out there, mostly because of the fact that he and his ship have been a pair of the A Song of Ice and Fire universe for some time, and just had not turned up on the show before now. If you head over here, you can read a little bit more in terms of who this character is.

Asbaek has not directly confirmed that he will be a part of the show, he sort-of did at the same time by quoting the show in a post on Twitter below, which may end up being one of our favorite subtle teases at a role we’ve seen in quite some time. Obviously, you have to assume that he’s excited to play the part. “Game of Thrones” is an international phenomenon, and it exposes many European actors to American audiences in ways that do not often happen otherwise.

The new season will premiere this spring, and we imagine more updates will be coming in the months ahead.

We do have some other notable “Game of Thrones” casting news today when it comes to Samwell’s brother, and you can read all about that by going over to the link here!
