‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: Danish actor to play important role

LogoThe vast majority of this summer, casting news related to “Game of Thrones” has been relatively scarce. Not only that, but it has been even harder to find casting news that actually told who the character in which said actor was going to be playing. Of course, part of the problem with that is mostly that nobody wants to give something away that may or may not be in the George R.R. Martin books.

Well, we have a rare find this morning: A casting that actually has both an actor name and character named attached! Per Vulture, Danish actor Pilou Asbæk has been castto play the part of Euron Greyjoy on the upcoming season. What is interesting here is mostly that Euron is actually a character who has been around the book series for some time, and is a prominent part of A Feast for Crows, which happens to be the fourth in the series.

So why introduce this part now? Our guess is that it must be a point where there is something that happens that makes it necessarily for Theon Greyjoy’s uncle to actually make an appearance; also, it could just be that with HBO apparently now planning eight seasons of the show, this gives them a way to further fill up some story while saving some good stuff for the final two years, as well.

We should note that at the time we are writing this article, HBO has yet to confirm this casting, but all signs point to it very much being Euron, and for us having some pretty crazy stuff coming up as a result. Euron leads a ship full of people whose tongues he ripped out, and they are known as the Silence.
