‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: See Terence Howard, Taraji P. Henson in new premiere photo!

The second season of “Empire” is going to premiere on Fox come Wednesday, September 21, and the great news that we’ve got for you today is that you don’t have to wait any longer to get a first-look photo at where we’re going to see Lucious and Cookie: Behind bars.

Well, specifically Cookie is not a prisoner, but it is very clear that she’s visiting Lucious for some sort of conversation. Months will have passed since the end of season 1 and the start of season 2, and that means that many dynamics may have changed for Terence Howard and Taraji P. Henson’s characters since that time. Empire Entertainment is almost constantly in a state of flux, and these people have to figure out how to keep the business running with the face of it not really available.

We’ve said this a few times now, but the odds of Lucious remaining behind bars long after the premiere episode are pretty low. There’s no real reason to keep him locked-up forever, given that his role on the show is somewhat more limited when he doesn’t have the opportunity to interact with everyone.

If nothing else, we do know that he will have interesting company in prison in the form of one person: Chris Rock, who will be playing another person in a prison uniform. We’re going to have much more news on the premiere before this episode airs, but we’d say to expect drama and plenty of it.
