‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Upcoming ‘Vampire Diaries’ guest to play Hellgrammite

The first season of “Supergirl” is clearly assembling a pretty wide array of villains for their upcoming first season, and to go along with the likes of Non and Livewire you call officially add Hellgrammite to the list.

So who is playing this particularly baddie? According to Entertainment Weekly, it is none other than “Powers” actor Justice Leak, who is going to be very busy this fall given that he also has a role coming on “The Vampire Diaries.” Of course, to us it is rather hilarious that someone named justice is actually playing some sort of nefarious villain. Maybe that is just a part of how our sense of humor works.

In the comics, Roderick Rose is the alter ego of the villain, and he is an entomologist who after many experiments ultimately becomes this sort of insect-like supervillain who is incredibly strong and possesses many other powers that you would expect a bug-inspired villain to have. His name is actually derived from an insect of the same name.

We imagine that this is the sort of character who could really creep some people out there out, and for some demented reason we’re happy about that. Above all, what we’re happy with is that “Supergirl” is not wasting any time introducing us to TV versions of many established villains. They’re not just starting slow here, and hoping at some point down the road that they will include more people with powers. They’re going all-in really from the start.

The series premiere of “Supergirl” airs on Monday, October 26. We’ll have more scoop soon.
