Criminal Minds: Evolution season 20 premiere date: Best-case scenario

We are a couple of days removed now from the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19 finale over at Paramount+, so why not look to the future?

The first thing that we do have to say at this point is not altogether complicated: Season 20 is being filmed right now! There is a lot to look forward to, especially since the series is planning a reset of sorts following Zach Gilford’s departure as Elias Voit. There will be a new Big Bad, some great character moments, and some unexpected surprises thrown in here all at once.

If we are to look to the future of Criminal Minds: Evolution, let’s just start by stating the show could technically be done and ready to go late this year. However, that is not happening. Paramount+ is not the sort of streaming service that is going to throw two seasons of a show on the air in the same calendar year. With that in mind, we tend to think we’ll be lucky to get the show back in the winter or the spring of 2027.

Are we hoping for some more surprises between now and then? Certainly. The show got a little lucky in season 19 thanks to casting Connor Storrie prior to him becoming a breakout star with Heated Rivalry. We’re not sure they can pull off something like that again, but we do hope there are some opportunities to hear about some other story elements and twists soon enough.

Also, we still hope by the end of the year we learn whether or not season 20 is going to be the final one. At present, there is no suggestion that this will be the case.
