‘Supergirl’ spoilers: ‘True Blood’ alum cast as Livewire

“Supergirl” is adding to its roster of villains for its upcoming first season, and today they’ve added someone who may definitely add an electrifying component to the show in Livewire.

Want to know more? Well, what we have right now is that per Variety, “True Blood” alum Brit Morgan (who played Alcide’s ex Debbie Pelt on the show) is going to guest-star here as Leslie Willis, a shock-jock with ties to Cat Grant’s company. Given that this show is more entertaining if the villains have powers, we imagine that something will happen to eventually allow Leslie the ability to manipulate electricity. (In the comics, this happens after an incident goes terribly awry at a concert.)

With all of this casting news, what we are seeing here for the most part is “Supergirl” continuing to borrow elements that worked for some of the other Andrew Kreisberg – Greg Berlanti superhero products like “Arrow” and “The Flash.” These shows really started off their early seasons focusing more on isolated villains, before eventually figuring out a way to introduce some more people who stuck around long-term. With “The Flash,” for example, it was not until near the end of the first half of season 1 that we learned that Harrison Wells was actually the Reverse Flash / Eobard Thawne. Something similar can be said for “Arrow” and Malcolm Merlyn.

New episodes of “Supergirl” start airing on October, and based now on how far the show is into production, you are probably going to see Livewire turn up in one of the earlier episodes.
