‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 4 will follow season 3 in summer 2016

BatB -This summer, “Beauty and the Beast” has been a consistent presence on The CW’s schedule. Has it been much of a hit commercially? Far from it. The show at least has been steady, though, and the network had enough confidence in it to order a fourth season before the third even finished airing. With that said, do not take this early renewal as any sign that the network is looking to change their strategy at all in terms of whether or not to air season 4 next summer. That’s happening.

While at the TCA Summer Press Tour today, network head Mark Pedowitz made his intentions for the Kristin Kreuk – Jay Ryan series abundantly clear (per TVLine) when talking about the network’s slate of programming, and it feels very much apparent that this is a show that is not going to be making any big moves at all:

“I truly like it as a summer series … It gives us original programming. One of our goals for the network is to have year-round programming, and we’re doing more and more of this. I plan to keep it there.”

Sure, the waiting for nine months between seasons is awful, but we have to say that Pedowitz is probably right about this being the right spot for the show to land. Just look at it this way: If you want the show to last a long time, it is better off airing in a place where there are fewer expectations for it to perform well.
