ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 poster focuses on Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, and perspective

CastleWelcome to this latest edition of “making a big deal out of everything,” where we, the media, do … well, you can figure it out.

The subject at hand today is the latest season 8 poster for “Castle,” which features Rick (Nathan Fillion) and Kate (Stana Katic) looking in different directions. One is clearly aware that the camera is on them, while the other seems to be much more interested in something else.

Now, you have to wonder this: Are we making way too big of a deal out of this? The simple answer to that is yes, we very clearly are. This shouldn’t be taken as some sort of a sign that these two characters are not on the same page; instead, we see it mostly as just a sign that they each took photos for this separately, and then someone probably just chose the two that they liked the best and put those on the poster. There’s nothing really about this that should come as a surprise. It’s not an innovative poster at all; instead, it’s simply a reminder that the show is coming out on Monday, September 21.

Now that we’ve said this, we can at least remind you that the dynamic for Rick and Kate this season will be different. It ultimately has to be when one of them is working now as a Captain. Castle could spend his time working with other members of the NYPD, including newcomer to the series Toks Olangundoye as Hayley. With that being said, there is no evidence that the relationship between the two will be challenged or in any jeopardy. This is their love story, and the producers do not seem to be deviating from that.
