‘The Leftovers’ season 2: When will HBO release something more?

Leftovers -We have to be honest: We did not think we would miss “The Leftovers” as much as we have. When the first season aired on HBO last year, our immediate reaction to it was mostly that this was a dreary, relentlessly depressing series. We did not quite know just how there was anything in here that we would want to come back to, mostly because there were so many moments that were almost impossible to watch.

Yet, the network managed to pull something off with their teaser trailer for season released earlier this summer, which featured people arriving to a new town in Texas with a surprising statistic: Despite having thousands of residents, there was not a single departure.

So why are so many different people interested in coming to this town in particular? Our interpretation is that they are clinging to something normal, or at least something that they feel could be normal. They may feel almost as though there is an opportunity for something like this is this town, at least more so than where we saw them in Mapleton, New York during the show’s first season.

Now, we are left to wonder when HBO is finally going to confirm something more on the series. There is still no firm premiere date other than “fall,” and given that it has been a month and a half since that first teaser was released, we imagine that there should be something else coming soon enough. Who knows? Maybe it will come before we get to the season finale of “True Detective.”
