‘Wayward Pines’ season 2: What are renewal odds for Fox’s ‘limited series’?

Wayward Pines -Tonight marks the season 1 finale for “Wayward Pines,” and for many it also marks the continuing of a rather awkward situation as to whether or not to define this show as a limited series or something that is entirely different. Early on, the impression given was that this show would only run for one season, and in turn that one season would stand on its own.

While we would say to expect a definitive ending to the saga tonight on Fox, that does not mean that the show is going to be officially done at all. We’ve already heard talk that Fox could be considering more of the show in some capacity, and it is still possible to do more with this world even beyond the story that you are getting this summer.

The biggest reason to renew “Wayward Pines” is ultimately a pretty simple one: Ratings. While it has not become some sort of earth-shattering hit by any means, it is a very solid contributor in Fox’s lineup. Therefore, they may not want to face the possibility of not having it on the air next year. It performed especially well in DVR viewing, and was discussed in a way that few other summer series have been.

Also, you have to wonder what other ideas Fox does have for summer shows. As of late, most of what we’ve heard about our either just remakes, or revised versions of series that we’ve already seen in some shape or form already.

The only thing that we hope is that if tonight feels truly satisfying and no one knows the proper way to continue the story after it airs, just end it here. End on a high note, and then leave the door open maybe for something down the road if another concept comes up.
