‘Heroes: Reborn’ spoilers: Will familiar characters have changed? Masi Oka chimes in

Heroes -You never want to see something beloved messed with in a bad way, and while we know that not all of the original “Heroes” is something that is looked back on particularly fondly, when the show was great, there was nothing else on TV like it. The first season in particular still preserves some of that adventure and wonder. It of course is still best as time-capsule viewing; at the time it first aired, superhero shows were not omnipresent in the way that they are now.

So now that it has been so long since the original show, are we going to see substantial changes? Speaking to TV Guide, original star Masi Oka (who is returning for an arc as Hiro Nakamura) made it clear that there will be a combination of new elements, but also some of the same classic character traits that many people loved about these people in the first place:

“We are very aware of our roots and we don’t want to ignore them … He’s kind of a hybrid of the old innocent Hiro and the future Hiro. He’s still going to be a badass, but he has a moral code and that childlike wonder in him. This time around it’s about him passing the torch to the new generation.”

Greg Grunberg chimes in here by saying that while there are still some elements of the old Matt Parkman present in his new adaptation coming this fall, this is also a much darker take on the character than what we saw at times in the first four seasons.

If you missed it, “Heroes: Reborn” did release a lengthy trailer around the time of San Diego Comic-Con, and you can head over here now to watch it! Also, be sure to sign up here if you are interested in getting some other TV news sent your way via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
