‘The Bachelorette’: Let’s laugh at those Khloe Kardashian rumors for a minute

The latest -Ready to get some other news when it comes to “The Bachelorette“? Well, whether or not this is “news” truly is something that is debatable, since our main purpose here is to get you completely mocking the notion of what a certain media outlet is reporting.

According to OK! Magazine, Khloe Kardashian has somehow been offered the shocking fee of $10 million to be the star of the next season of the show. Also, a source claims that she has “warned up” to the idea of making it happen. There’s some other quotes in here from network sources about why they think that this would be a hit, but let’s not spend too much time with all of that, mostly because we feel like there’s a whole lot of nothing packed into this story. It’s just not going to happen.

What are the problems here? It’s hard to know where to start. How about with this: There is ZERO chance that “The Bachelorette” is confirming the star of their next season a year away. They want to see who the roster of women are for the next women, since there may be the next Trista Sutter or Ashley Hebert in that mix.

Also, hiring Khloe for $10 million is the move of a desperate show. “The Bachelorette” is not desperate. Their ratings are up considerably this summer from last year with Kaitlyn Bristowe as the lead, and she did not come from a polarizing family of reality TV stars. The truth here is that other than maybe the first episode, we don’t think the show would do any better with Khloe as the lead. Maybe they’d gain some of her fans, but they’d lose some diehard viewers, as well. One of the reasons for the series’ popularity is that they tend to take ordinary people who are somewhat relatable and thrust them into this position. There would inherently be cynicism about someone like Khloe in the lead, even if she did want to find love. They also don’t have to pay some ordinary person anywhere near this kind of money.

If ABC was to make a celebrity the “Bachelorette,” they’d probably pick someone like a “Dancing with the Stars” pro or a sitcom star within their own family of networks. The Kardahians are NBCUniversal people.

This is just not happening, people. Maybe the show will figure out who they want as the next “Bachelorette” after filming for “The Bachelor” concludes later this fall. While we’re at it, stop it with the Amy Schumer stuff, as well. Also not happening.
