‘Supergirl’ spoilers: ‘Smallville’ Supergirl Laura Vandervoot may have cameo

Back when it was first announced that there was going to be a “Supergirl” series airing on CBS this fall, there was one name thrown around early and often by fans hoping to see Laura Vandervoot in the role. The actress (pictured here) had the part back when “Smallville” was on the air, and she amassed a fan base as a result.

Were we surprised to see Melissa Benoist be cast? Hardly. Remember here that Justin Hartley’s name was tossed around by Green Arrow fans before the start of “Arrow” as a good candidate, but it ended up going to Stephen Amell. What is interesting here is that it appears that Vandervoot may still get a chance to appear on the new show in a different way.

Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, the actress (who is now a cast member on “Bitten”) made it clear that there have been some talks about having some sort of cameo on “Supergirl,” though it is unclear just who she would be playing. Our guess will be some sort of guest that can be woven in and out in just a single episode; we’re tempted to say Power Girl just because it would be funny, but we don’t think that the show would want to take the name necessary to try to explain ultimate universes and all of that on the show.

“Supergirl” itself will premiere on CBS come October 26, and it is pretty fair to say that you can expect a wide array of interesting heroes and villains. This is perhaps CBS’ most-hyped new series, and it is to be seen if it can match that beyond just a pilot.
