‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: More returning favorites seemingly coming

Through the fourth season of “Once Upon a Time,” it was certainly very nice to have Maleficent back on the show after some time away … even if it felt pretty obvious that her look was changed up mostly to capitalize on the success of the recent feature film. We also had a surprise return for Zelena later in the season; our guess was that she was only making a one-episode appearance in a flashback, mostly because we believed that the character was dead and it was not going to be easy to get her back around.

So with these two returns in mind, isn’t it pretty likely that more will be coming? You have to think that way, given that there are a great roster of potential people out there who could be added to the show again. Think Dr. Whale, Archie, Red, Mulan, Aurora, or others that still have a story left to tell.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the subject of returning faces, co-creator Adam Horowitz certainly made it clear that it could be possible to bring some people back:

“We sure hope [there will be more returning characters]. There’s plenty of characters we want to bring back and see again. It’s a little early to tell you who they all are, but we certainly have a whole slew of favorites over these four seasons.”

For at least the first few episodes of season 5, it seems somewhat easy to determine that the focus is going to be mostly on Dark Swan, and also trying to find Merlin to destroy the Dark One in Storybrooke for good. In turn, this means seeing more of Camelot.
