‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 Comic-Con poster is legitimately creepy

The fifth season of “Once Upon a Time” is premiering on ABC come Sunday, September 28, but with San Diego Comic-Con happening later this week, the publicity campaign is already starting! You can see the brand-new poster for the new season of the show below; suffice it to say, this one may actually freak you out.

The eyes here are the perfect reminder of the Dark Swan story that we are expecting to get on the fifth season, which in turn suggests to us almost a slightly-darker tone. Emma basically became the new Dark One at the end of last season, though it remains unclear just how this will impact her. She is someone who has good within her heart, but we have also heard a few times over now of the capacity that she also has for great evil. Much of those warnings could have been foreshadowing for what is soon to come.

One of the real questions / tests for this character we envision seeing on season 5 revolve around simply this: How evil can you legitimately make this character without going too far with her? There is a bridge that if you cross it, it could mean that previous fans of the Emma character are not able to get on board any longer. The last thing that you want is that.

There are some other stories coming up that are a little more under-the-radar. For example, King Arthur and many other characters of Camelot lore are set to appear on the show this coming season, and it will be fairly entertaining to see how many of them ultimately fit into this world.
