Ratings: ‘Wayward Pines,’ ‘Hannibal’ season 3 among live+3 leaders
We’ll start this article with a little bit of admission: When we saw the ratings for the series premiere of “Wayward Pines” back during the May sweeps, we thought that the show was going to be a complete afterthought by the time that we made it to the fourth or fifth season.
However, things have clearly changed since then. While the show has not really seen a huge ratings spike, it has been consistent throughout its first month-plus on the air. Not only that, but its live+3 ratings are enormous, especially when you consider that this is network TV we are talking about here! Per a new report from TVbythenumbers, the show’s June 4 broadcast went from a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic to a 2.0 rating once the live+3 data was factored in. That’s an increase of more than 80%! That is one of the best increases out there for a show in three days, and nothing else is really even that close to it.
While we ultimately still cannot say if Fox is going to give this show (which has a pretty definite ending for its first season) a second season, let’s ask you this: Are you really going to get anything that fares better in the summer?
Also notable here is that for its premiere, “Hannibal” went from a 0.7 rating to a 0.9. While that is not going to blow anyone away, it’s at least a respectable increase for a show that really does need almost all of the help that it can get at the moment to stay on the air.
