‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 5 preview: Crab kitchen

MasterChef -We should start this “MasterChef” article with a quick warning here that the contents below are not for the faint of heart, mostly because not everyone wants to see a video or a challenge regarding cooking live crabs. There’s just something about the whole process that is easy to find uncomfortable. Sure, many of us have no problem with eating them, but there’s a different psychologically between doing that and watching the creatures by cut up and cooked. That part is never fun.

So why in the world is the show doing this as a challenge? Well, they tend to do this one every single season, and the idea here is mostly to test the home cooks’ ability to handle tough situations, and also to see what they are willing to do to become the winner of the season. Here’s the issue we have with it: What if someone is a vegan? While we’re not necessarily advocating one food lifestyle over another, we feel like they should be allowed to do something that fits their particular moral choice, provided of course that it is a challenge and they will be held to the same overall standard as the others. Then again, we’re glad that if they are doing this challenge, it is for a Mystery Box. Nobody tends to be eliminated after one of these.

Anyhow, after this challenge, there will of course be an elimination challenge, and at least one home cook will be sent home.
