‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, episode 5 reaction: Iain Glen on Ser Jorah shocker

Game of Thrones -Apparently on “Game of Thrones” at the moment, now is not the greatest time in the world to be a person associated with Daenerys. Remember what happened to Ser Barristan on this past episode? Well, tonight’s “Kill the Boy” gave us a very different sort of shocker, and one where Ser Jorah, who recent captured Tyrion in hopes of getting redemption from the Mother of Dragons, contracted the disease greyscale. While this is not a death sentence for him by any means, things are certainly not looking particularly great for him at the moment.

Is there a reason to worry that he is going to die? With this show’s history, it is understandable if you are paralyzed in fear. However, Iain Glen, who plays the character, told Entertainment Weekly in a post-mortem for tonight’s installment that in many ways, there are a variety of different endings still possible for his character:

“[When I first heard about the news] I thought, ‘Uh-oh, here comes trouble.’ Then you start reaching out for what this means, and [showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff] are playing their cards very close to their vest on this one … You wouldn’t think [the prognosis is] good, But in this story, people have died from it and they have been saved from it. So who knows? It’s a slow burn, greyscale, and there are ways to intervene.”

Hopefully, we are going to find out by the end of this upcoming episode a thing or two more about Jorah, and also if he has a chance to make it. He always has been one of the show’s more complicated characters.
