‘Better Call Saul’ season 2 spoilers: Be prepared for more Nacho

Better Call Saul season 1Going into the first season of “Better Call Saul,” it was both easy and understandable to assume that Nacho was going to be a key part of the show. He was featured in promotional photos before the show, had a big role in early episodes, and then for whatever reason disappeared. This was probably even more discouraging to those who wanted to see more of Tuco, and his cameo at the end of the series premiere more or less set Twitter ablaze with various comments about how glad they were to see him again.

So even though the first season ended up being at least reasonably light on this character, we should make it fairly clear here that this is far from the last you are going to be seeing from him. Co-creator Vince Gilligan did a Reddit AMA today in honor of a new campaign he is doing over at Omaze, and he explained that there is more still to come for the character:

“We thought Nacho would be more present in Season 1 as well. We did not shy away from using Nacho as a character — and we love Michael Mando, who plays him. This is a great example of how — like it or not — a television story takes on a life of its own. As a writer, you have to follow the thread of the story you’re writing, even if that means spending less time with certain characters. In other words — to put it succinctly — there was so much more story to tell relating to Jimmy and his brother Chuck that we writers found it hard to fit in more great moments from Nacho — but don’t despair, you’ll be seeing much more of Nacho in Season 2. You heard it here first!”

The second season will premiere on AMC at some point early next year, and we definitely more than expect there to be some other news related to it announced over the course of the months ahead. While we did not particularly love the finale, we would say that the entire first season as a whole is still a success story.
