‘American Idol XIV’: Harry Connick Jr. speaks out about Quentin Alexander dispute

Quentin -It is a little surprising that a story from Wednesday night’s “American Idol XIV” is episode is still worthy of getting a little bit of play, but this is ultimately where we are right now with Quentin Alexander and his back-and-forth with Harry Connick Jr. after this past new episode. For whatever reason, these are two people who did not see eye to eye on whether Quentin was being ungrateful after calling the situation “wack” that his fellow singers Joey Cook and Rayvon Owen were in singing for their lives.

At the time, we felt like Harry was not exactly understanding what Quentin was saying and decided to make a big TV moment out of it. Based on what Harry told “Extra” after the episode aired, we still more or less feel this way:

“When I heard the phrase ‘This whole thing is wack,’ that did surprise me. I was surprised than anyone who’s had this opportunity would say it … I think he seems like a really nice guy, and I think he got caught up. It’s happened to all of us…moving on.”

We do think that Quentin was a little bit caught up in the moment, and he said something that you could have some different interpretations of. However, at the same time we feel like the move there for Harry should have been instead of coming down on the singer himself, allowing America to pass judgment on it. That way, he does not take any heat himself, and it is up to Quentin then to explain his interpretation of the comments.

Maybe this story will die after the next new episode airs. For now, who do you side with? Share below, and head over here to get some further “American Idol” scoop! Also, you can sign up here to get some other TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Fox.)
