‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Could Olly Murs, Caroline Flack really host?

Here’s something funny to prove that we the media are sometimes fervent flip-floppers. It was only a matter of a day ago when we were pouting and proclaiming that “The X Factor” made a mistake of epic proportions in allowing Dermot O’Leary a.k.a. a Surprisingly Acrobatic Man in a Suit to leave the competition after so many years on the show. He’s become a face for a show that without him seems almost like Rorschach in “Watchman.”

However … we now feel like the show may have a little bit more of a clue than we originally gave them credit for. Per The Sun (a publication that has been very busy this week with all of the One Direction headlines), former “Xtra Factor” co-hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs are being brought in to shepherd the main program. Sound fun? We did love their crazy energy / them pretending to frequently hit on one another during the aftershow when they were both a part of that years ago. they know the show, have experience, and seem pretty primed to deliver something that people will want to watch.

Also, change can be good. As much as we are President of the Dermot Fan Club, you have to do something to convince people to stop tuning out to what is a dinosaur of a genre at the moment. Maybe this is the thing that does it.

Note that this is not an official booking by any means. It may take many weeks for Simon Cowell to actually want to shout his choice for next host / co-host from a pedestal. We just feel like these are names so big that it would not be reported (even by the British tabloids, notoriously fickle and at times wrong) unless it were close to happening.
