‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4, episode 15 review: Where is the Author?

Ursula -Tonight, “Once Upon a Time” finally gave us a few answers when it comes to one key topic, and that is what in the world happened between Hook and Ursula so many years ago. These two hated each other, and as it turns out, there were some very good reasons why!

The biggest thing that happened between the two of them is that thanks in part to Hook’s actions, and a plot orchestrated to try to stop the Dark One by her father Poseidon, she ended up completely losing her voice. This sparked her developing her powers and wanting revenge on the masses, which in turn made her into one of the Queens of Darkness. Tough stuff, and this carried over to the present when Hook tried to make a deal with her in order to ensure he could stop Rumpelstiltskin, and she would get her own happy ending.

In the end, we wonder now if the Ursula story is over. Thanks to Hook finding a way to bring Poseidon to Storybrooke with the help of Ariel, there’s no real need for her to be a villain again. While this was almost entirely too easy, it gives us a better sense as to what the real goal of this season is … and it is not necessarily featuring all three Queens throughout.

The most important revelation of all came at the very end, where it was revealed in grand fashion that the author, the person who is behind almost everything, may be actually trapped within the book itself. This complicates things, no? It at least means that there is some serious magic that’s going to happen from here on out.

As for the Hook / Emma relationship, it’s nice to see him changing and realizing that it will be very easy to become evil again. Now, she just needs to realize that there is something terrible that could happen within herself, due to the capacity for great evil that she holds. Grade: B.
