‘Big Brother Canada 3’ prediction: Who will come out on top this season?

Big Brother -We have been very lucky over the past two years when it comes to “Big Brother Canada” predictions. The first season, we picked Jillian MacLaughlin to come out on top. Meanwhile, in season 2 we gave the honor to Jon Pardy pre-game. We’re not going to sit here and brag extensively about this, since the majority of it is luck. The only thing pre-game you can really figure out is who has almost no chance of winning the game, and that typically cuts the field in half. From there, you just have to figure out who you perceive to be a strong enough player and a likable enough person to make it all the way and get votes in the final two.

The fun thing about making predictions this year is that this is the first time we actually interviewed the entire cast pre-game, and we are using that as our chief reference point more so than the Global interviews or anything else. We had a gut feeling on the winner the moment we were done talking with everyone, and we’re sticking with that.

We’re not going to rank the entire cast this season beforehand, mostly because we never have and there really is no value in differentiating between one pre-jury player and another. The one thing we will say is that Sindy “with an S” Nguyen will be the first person out. We felt that way mostly just from talking with her and how much she valued promoting her shtick (i.e. the spelling of her name). If she plays up something similar in the house, she is going to rub people the wrong way very quickly. Another possibility is Zach Oleynik, mostly because we feel like he could come across as very arrogant very quickly.

Without further ado, let’s get to naming our top five players going into the season.

5. Jordan Parhar – We’ve tried to take out our own personal bias here, given that we had heard of him pre-game and listen to Rob Has a Podcast with just as much regularity. We feel like he’s going to be a very good strategist, since he knows the game but won’t brag incessantly about it. Eventually, though, he’s going to be exposed as a big threat, and we don’t see him winning a ton of competitions.

4. Bobby Hlad – He’s not going to be a great strategist, but he’ll win a ton of competitions and be a positive guy around the house. That will keep him safe for a while, and he’ll be far too popular with the jury to keep in the game.

3. Bruno Ielo – We have zero problem admitting that Bruno was our favorite interview, since he was so friendly and loved the game so much. He’s an easy guy to root for, and there’ll probably be people in the house who are rooting for him to win more than themselves. Here’s the problem: If he makes it to final two, he most likely wins in a landslide. You have to get rid of him.

2. Ashleigh Wood – She’ll be the floater of the season. Nobody will get rid of her because she won’t do much strategically, and while she seems to be likable enough, three votes maximum is her ceiling. There may not be a time for the entire game where she is considered as a nominee, except for a pawn scenario.

1. Willow MacDonald – There was a part of our heart that really wanted to pick Bruno just because we like him, especially once we started to hear that Willow was a pretty popular pick to win this season and we wanted to break from the mold. However, we have to stick to our guts here, especially after we started to get too clever picking the “Survivor: Worlds Apart” winner and went out on a limb on Vince. Willow knows the game well, but she’s probably not the biggest superfan in the house and won’t be targeted for it. She’s going to have a shield in almost every scenario (an alliance with Bobby seems likely, as is one with Ashleigh); “Big Brother 13” was the last time two women made it to the end together, and given her skill set and her likely ability to fly under the radar early, Willow should be able to arrive on the scene as a force to be reckoned with come the final eight or so. She also comes from a sales / marketing background, which to us means she knows how to work people and sell herself … potentially all the way to the grand prize.
