‘Shark Tank’ preview: BrandYourself, The Home T, iCPooch, BeeSweet Lemonade, Daisy Cakes, and more

Shark Tank CastThank goodness that “Shark Tank” has such an enormous episode order. With the NCAA Tournament coming on the air, we would not have a whole lot else to watch Friday night! Friday night’s new episode seems especially fun, given that you have four products that all occupy different spaces, and they all could make for interesting presentations … at least if you like dogs, beverages, t-shirts, or really want to make people see positive Google results about your name.

As always when we do these previews, let’s start with the official synopsis:

“On this week’s episode of “Shark Tank,” a 14-year old entrepreneur from Spokane, WA, offers her product which gives pet owners a way to videochat with their animals and even deliver treats while away from home; a New York-based entrepreneur has a hometown t-shirt that has over $1 million in sales so far and attracted celebrities to wear it, and another New Yorker with proprietary software to manage your online and social reputation are spotlighted this week.”

For those wondering, this episode also features Barbara Corcoran and some of her businesses on her annual retreat. Some of the ones featured include Daisy Cakes, Cerebral Success, Grace & Lace, Villy Customs, Pipcorn, Ry’s Ruffery and Cousins Maine Lobster. Basically, these are products that have for the most part made more than one appearance already.

Now, let’s turn to tomorrow night’s products.

iCPooch – A pretty simple idea, really: An app that you you design so that you can call up, spend time with your pet, and even dispense a treat to him or her when you are away. It’s kind of adorable, but we do think there could be some other applications for this in home surveillance and other things even for non-pet owners. You just wouldn’t want to give a human a treat! $129 is a little pricey for some, but maybe high-end pet enthusiasts will love this.

BeeSweet Lemonade – There’s something almost ironic about this one, given that lemonade stands are like the perfect metaphor for the entrepreneur. This is a lemonade beverage infused with honey and some other flavors. We’ve never had anything like this, but in theory, it at least sounds pretty darn tasty. It’s being sold online for $22 for four bottles of lemonade with recipes. It’s probably not a great product for ecommerce, and you need to get it out in shelves.

The Home T – The idea here seems to be that you buy a shirt with your home state on it, and then proceed to show it off to the world. Fun? Sort of. It’s nice that a proceed of sales go to multiple sclerosis research, but we feel like there’s a shelf life on something that seems to be about almost entirely one premise … even if the shirts look good for the most part.

BrandYourself – First things first, the dude on the website sort of looks like Matt LeBlanc. With that said, we’re still figuring out how this one works. Obviously, SEO is a big part of the equation here to ensure that favorite results get promoted higher on Google while negative ones go down, that way you can get the brand you want. All we know is that in our own experiences with search engines, this can be very difficult when the criteria changes so much. we’ll have to see what the pitch is like tomorrow before making a verdict.
