‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Jones, and a bit of fun

SNL -If you want to take a true test of how much Lorne Michaels loves you on “Saturday Night Live,” a good question to ask yourself is this: Have you appeared in a promo for the show? Leslie Jones has, even if this is her first year of being a featured player. Have we seen Kyle Mooney or Sasheer Zamata do this? Not as far as we can remember.

One of the reasons for Jones’ meteoric rise on “SNL” is probably that she’s already paid her dues for so long, she has that upcoming part in the “Ghostbusters” revamp, and she also just so happens to have an outstanding point of view. Occasionally, she gets caught in that same trap of playing the same sort of character that Aidy Bryant does, but for the most part, that is few and far between.

The promo below with Chris Hemsworth and the (enormous) Zac Brown Band is the first one of Jones’ run on the show, and she does a pretty great job with it. After all, what else did you really expect from her other than to be very funny? She is that and then some, cracking jokes about Chris being He-Man, and then getting extremely close to him in a way that many ladies and gentlemen out there probably want to be.

Maybe this is also a small sign that you could be seeing more of Jones herself on the show; she has improved quite a bit throughout the year in the live sketches, though she’s always been great at the “Weekend Update” desk.
