‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Skye takes center stage in Oscars promo

ABC is well aware of the fact that the Academy Awards are their most-watched night of television of the entire year. How else do you explain the production value of some of the promos that they come out with?

The latest one below for Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” is in a word, awesome. Even if you have never seen the show before, there is something about this that may hook you in. It’s the classic superhero origin story in a way: You have someone in Skye who comes with a secret past, and is taken in and protected by SHIELD when she is very young. They want to enable her to be the best that she can be, but little did they know that there was something within her that was … Inhuman. Love the way this double-meaning works in the promo, given that they are referencing her personality change, her powers, and the Marvel universe.

The challenge for the show is going to be balancing out Skye’s new powers with everything else that is going on in the second half of the season. You want to give everyone their due attention, but there is no question that her story is what most out there are probably excited to see above all else at the moment. This happens when you know that there is an Inhumans movie coming many years down the road for Marvel Studios, who already have a huge lineup set in stone for the next several years.
