‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 6: Helen George and a hint of things to come

Trixie -What has been interesting about season 4 of “Call the Midwife” so far is that it does really feel like a show almost without a lead now that Jessica Raine is gone. You’ve got so many different things going on, and many of them are separate stories for Shelagh, Trixie, Chummy, or any of the other characters we’ve come to know on the series over the years.

In a way, this adds to the unpredictability and the fun of the show, and it also gives us a chance to get to know some characters a little bit better, as well. For example, we are certianly getting more familiar with Trixie now than we were previously. Based on Helen George’s recent comments to the Express, it also feels like there are some exciting things still to come, and she is glad to be a big part of the show:

“I’m still excited about being on the show and am more confident in the part. I know Trixie inside out and back to front … Trixie’s really finding herself this year, but it’s been quite challenging as she has had some tough storylines.”

George also commented on the state of things past and present with Tom, who was at least briefly engaged to Trixie before she started to fear that she would not be able to live up to his standards and expectations:

“She has been seeing the vicar – he’s known as ‘hot prison vicar’ on set! – so now it’s a test to see whether it will go further or not. We get to look behind Trixie’s smile in this series and find out what makes her who is she is.”
