‘The Flash’ spoilers: Romance scoop for Barry, Iris, Caitlin, and Linda!
Who would have thought that Barry Allen on “The Flash” could potentially have so many different ladies in his life? That is part of what makes this series so interesting. When you think about it, he has been linked to four characters in promos for the show, or by fans: Iris West, Linda Park, Felicity Smoak, and Caitlin Snow.
Linda is the character arriving Tuesday night (played by Malese Jow), and she will be very different than anyone that Barry has met so far. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg references that Linda’s presence may actually make more than just Iris jealous:
“We wanted Barry to have a little romance … Our iteration of Linda, she’s a spark plug. She’s a firecracker. She’s a lot of fun. She’s ballsy and she speaks her mind. She’s cool. Barry can’t kind of believe that somebody like her is interested in him. Barry suddenly having somebody like that in his life will cause the other women in his life to maybe see a little green.”
Maybe this news will be enough to make some Snowbarry ‘shippers out there do a backflip, and we know that “Barry and Caitlin go on an inadvertent date,” based on what else Kreisberg told the website. We still believe that Caitlin and Ronnie are still the primary focus of the show, given what we know about the future. If nothing else, this “date” could at least be a nod to some of the fans that they are being listened to, even though they may not be able to change the future mapped out for this show.

People have got to stop this “Barry & Caitlin are just friends”,”they have no chemistry” blah blah blah blah.the only reason WestAllen fans say that is due to the fact that not everybody is for Barry & Iris especially since they end up together in the comic book world.In the real world,Barry & Caitlin are a better match.Not only are they both interested in science,but they talk & listen to each other no matter what subject they talk about while Iris has had a hard time listening to Barry especially when he talks about science.It’s like she tunes him out.Like Caitlin said,they are quite a pair.Plus people may ship Snowstorm,but both Danielle & Robbie ship SnowBarry

At first I would’ve said Iris but she didn’t want him until he was interested in someone else and that made me not like her like I used to. Then out of the other three two are in love with other people. Don’t know enough about the new girl yet though so I’ll keep checking but I can’t stand when someone doesn’t notice someone until they’re with someone else.

I like Barry and Caitlin, but I don’t want them to be couple right now. If ever they’ll become something more than friends, I hope it’s not this early.
I like watching relationship develop and change over time. In their case, over the episodes aired, I’ve seen firsthand their friendship becoming stronger.
When watching series, I like falling in love “alongside” the characters. IF Barry and Caitlin would be written to be something more than just friends, I could so very easily get behind that. I like that because I am actually getting to see how Barry and Caitlin’s relationship is evolving, that is more interesting and entertaining for me. I like that experience more than being fed the narrative that one character has been in love with another character since forever or because they’re endgame.
If Barry and Caitlin will only remain friends, that’s okay. If episodes 1 to 12 are any indication, it wouldn’t really matter if they’re just friends because Barry and Caitlin scenes are already gold.

That tells you Snowbarry isn’t as successful as Olicity. They’re ALREADY messing up with the series’ ratings in SEASON 1! so quit comparing just cuz in your perfect little world someone like DP was cast as your perfect representation of Iris. Guess what she actually did but she didn’t get the part fo a reason = chemistry not there. Twitter is on fire because so many people hated last episode and even got bad reviews from EW.

Yeah…a lot of other critics gave it a positive review. And ratings have little to do with ships, but the overall plot like the cliched villain of the week or the fact that they’re not really advancing the storyline.

Iris was winning this polls just hour before last episode aired now look and the ratings got BAD. Series LOWEST so far. So MANY people lost interest. Iris is my least favourite character on the show. The writers keep telling the audience she’s supposedly super-beautiful, ie more beautiful than Felicity and Caitlin, but I don’t see it. The actors have no spark between them either. I also think the writing lets her down a little; she’s suddenly a journalist? She was at college, and didn’t seem that bright, then blogged for, what, a few weeks, and now she’s a journalist? And the episode where she gets upset about being spoken down to at work (on her first day, mind you), and feels all victimised, despite the fact she clearly shouldn’t even be there, was just Gen X to the max… So, while I love the show, the character of Iris just seems a bit simple, a bit spoilt, a bit self-absorbed, when compared to Felicity and Caitlin. I even like Linda more after only one ep (well partly because Malese Jow is fantastic). But personally, I love the idea of developing a relationship between Caitlin and Barry. Those two actors have so much chemistry, kind of like Ollie and Felicity.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: I think the actress who plays Iris is beautiful, but I think all the actresses in the show are beautiful/quite stunning. But the script is written as if Iris is meant to be super-beautiful, and all the other women are quite plain. In which case they should have cast the other actresses to be plainer, instead of being beautiful as well, but pretending to be plain and in awe of Iris’s beauty. I think it’s always a bit messy when people try to “act” plain, and the script has people openly stating that the other character is meant to be more beautiful. If you have to state it, then it’s not as convincing.

People say “Iris is so perfect for Barry”,”Why is Caitlin on here?She’s no potential love interest for Barry”,etc.Barry & Caitlin have great chemistry to where their friendship could grow into something more in the future before she becomes Killer Frost.You’d see it if they had more scenes like they did in the last episode.Besides Barry should look for other girls which is why he’s gonna start dating Linda.Iris has taken him for granted with him always wanting to be there for her and yet her eyes were on somebody else while only thinking of him as a brother.Now that Barry’s eyes are on another hot girl,Iris will realize how she wished she saw all of the signs everybody in their lives saw that he had feelings for her because he no longer has any time to pine over her anymore.

I do not want to go against the comics dc comics, it’s kind so the iris have to stay with Barry as Lois and Superman, the more you look the series itself, outside of comics in the iris deserves barry ..
Caitlin has a different way of dealing with Barry why it makes such special to him … (not want to go against the history of dc), the more the better and perfect for it’s CAITLIN, they are kind of a thing that complete … other

The most comments with must number of Likes are pro Iris/westallen. Likes unlike the poll which you can vote more than once are regulated . We are in the top of the poll most of the time. More comments more likes compared to those of SB.. yeah I guess we are winning overall and it shows westallen has way more support ;) the only problem is that as we got our support we got our haters.

Caitlin and Cisco even have a better dynamic then her and Barry… he was there for all the time after the accident, he comforts her, he couldnt stop looking at her when they first met, his first word after waking up from a concusion is Caitlin, he saved her when she was kidnapped. If this was Barry the SB fans would have been drowning in apparent ‘feels’, crying otp and endgame…but No caitlin and cisco are just platonic friends while making up all kinds of non existent chemistry between Barry and Caitlin. Do they even realize how transparent they are, smdh. I wonder if they would ship them if he wasnt a poc….

Because they don’t care about that! they just want Caitlin to be with the main character and the hero, the chemistry between Caitlin and Cisco is so wonderful, and you can actually see them care for each other, and if they start to develop feelings for each other I won’t be surprise (but Caitlin is in love with Ronnie, and he is alive and she need time to see him as his old self, and be happy together), But they just want her to love Barry, no matter how much Barry loves Iris, and all he want is Iris.

Am I the only one who is ever bothered by this? I mean Barry has shown ZERO romantic interest in Caitlin yet people are steady talking about this subjective chemistry THAT THEY SEE and therefore Barry show internalize. I mean really there should just be ONE POLL on this subject and it should be a simple question: Barry, who do you want? Iris, you say. Okay then. I saw the first 10 episode without knowing about westallen and snowbarry, and since the 1st episode since that beautiful scene when Barry woke up from his coma and went to see Iris, their hug was magic, and the way the look at each other and smile like they are the only people in the world, my heart belonged to them. When I knew that their are some people who ship Barry and Caitlin I was surprised that westallen wasn’t THE SHIP!! I never saw the romantic chemistry between them, she was more like a friend or a sister to him, the way she treat him, no sexual tension or even a spark, everyone can ship who they want but I really can’t understand how can you see Barry being in love with Iris every episode and not fall in love with them. Their scenes are worm and full of love and support. I like Caitlin and Barry as friends and team mate only.

Right… sure Iris is. She likes Barry unconditionally and always has. I’m assuming you believe that since she’s didn’t jump his bones at his confession, she “doesn’t like him”, which is odd, considering how Iris has been nothing but supportive and loving towards him. I don’t know of anyone that would cancel a date just to hang out with someone they don’t like.
Oh, the writers have something planned alright. Caitlin gets Ronnie back in two episodes and they go back to being happy and engaged.

I can’t be the only one tired of the leading lady falling for the man with the mask on, can I? It’s just not interesting to me which is such a shame as Candice Patton is stunning and for someone who doesn’t have a lot of credentials in hollywood, she is doing great. The problem isn’t her, it’s the way her character is written and how Barry’s written when they are together. It’s a lackluster love affair where I can’t help but want to yell “GET ON WITH IT!” whenever there is a very obvious scene between them, like the one when she rubbed his shoulders after Joe knocked Barry’s cup over. It was forced and unnatural. I’m a fan of Barry and Iris in the comics, so I hope they do them justice as the seasons go on. I’m surprisingly fond of the growing relationship of Barry and Caitlin as well. I would never have thought of Killer Frost and The Flash as interesting as a romantic couple, but I guess nothing is impossible.

If we didn’t have the comics to draw from I’d have thought they would be a setup for endgame, as they’ve had so much development compared to to any other relationship on the show. Snowbarry! Barry and Caitlin have the best chemistry on the show. I like their dynamic from strangers to friends and hopefully to something more. They have a great connection. I can see why people ship Westallen, but I just don’t see the spark. I’m all in for Snowbarry’s slow burn ship ;)

I like the friendship that Barry and Caitlin have, but I can’t see them as more than friends, they don’t have that romantic vibes, Barry and Iris have this connection that makes your heart worm and fuzzy, and dear God when the Flash was walking toward Iris in their first scene on the rooftop my God their sexual tension was off the charts, and just imagine when Barry can finally act on his feeling and desire with Iris Without the mask, it will be legendary and I don’t think i can handle it, IRIS AND BARRY ALL THE WAY!!

It’s easy to ship when A) the show only has 11 episodes, so no one is invested enough in any relationship and Barry’s already said I love you B) A lot of people don’t buy into the romance because the writers have set up something that is hard for a lot of people to get behind i.e. lived together for 7 years as family but apparently Barry was in love with her the whole time. C) It’s easy to see Iris and Barry as siblings. It’s easier and the show has painted them more like siblings and it’s easier to get behind that and understand it than it is to believe they’ve secretly been in love this whole time.

Iris’s dad support it (yeah more reasonsit’s never been sister/brother thing )
The only reason why joe even took barry was BECAUSE OF THE CONNECTION he had with Iris as they were best friends and he wouldn’t let him be taken by child services.
So it was always IRIS. The writers have always handled it well and clear they weren’t raised to be brother and sister. It was never like that. If you insist it is that’s another story.

It’s super weird for me personally to see them as siblings since, you know, Barry is love with her and talks about it constantly. Plus, both Barry’s dad and Iris’ dad support his being in love with her, so I was never for a second concerned with that angle of it.
I understand that people have different preferences and process things differently, but I guess I’m surprised the fact that they’re “like siblings” is the go-to response for so many people. Unless people think Barry is Jaime Lannister or something.

Stupid poll tbh. I don’t even know why publications bother with this nonsense. We all already know Iris is the love of Barry’s life and is who he’ll end up with and marry. The idea that every female character on the show wants him and must all get with him is gross misogynistic trash. The creators are just trolling the fans of those other crack ships. Some of them more real than others. The writers are not good with subtlety. They have done everything but hit us in the head that they are following the comic and going for Westallen. The only people confused and believing their Crack ship has a chance are delusional and racist fans. No surprise there.
Aside from that, I really can’t wait for Linda Park. I’m so excited to see what Barry is like in a romantic relationship before getting with Iris. I really want to see what his idea of romance is. How will he balance a romantic relationship with everything in his life? Is he into PDA? Does he like kissing a lot? And most importantly, a jealous Iris who will be forced to be honest with herself and her feelings for Barry. It will be cute to watch. At least I hope the writers make it cute and not misogynistic. And the cherry on top, Iris and Linda friendship. I really hope Linda is here to stay beyond being Barry’s rebound. I adore the possibility of an actual regular female friendship on the show outside of the once in a blue moon crossover. I ship Parkwest too. Lol

My favorite thing about liking Caitlin and Barry together is that for once there are no secrets. Barry is keeping his secret identity from Iris, just like Clark did with Lana, and just like Oliver did with Laurel. Different circumstances, I know, but the hero keeping his secret from one of the people he SHOULD be able to trust the most is a tired trope. But that’s not a problem with Barry/Caitlin.

Maybe because not a lot of people had voted at that point? The more people vote and the more they vote for different people, the smaller the gap between them will be. If only 100 people voted for either Caitlin or Iris, then you would see an easy and clear difference in their numbers. With more than that though, it becomes all about the point percentages. It’s clear not a lot of people had voted at the time you looked at it earlier. More people started to vote, and thus, here we are. Pretty simple.

Barry and Iris belong together, the producers themselves have called it a fairy tale romance. Caitlin has her own romance with Ronnie, which is pretty romantic, Felicity has Oliver and Ray, and Linda is just a guest star. Let Barry be happy with the woman he’s loved, and who has loved him back (even if she didn’t realize it) since before he knew what love even was.

Iris is the love of Barry’s life and she loves him too. She said so. I don’t even understand why Caitlin is in this poll. She’s like Barry’s overbearing mother or older sister. He has not expressed even the slightest bit of romantic interest in her. I think it’s sad that Snowbarry shippers can’t just let them be friends. It’s like they’re living vicariously through her. I wonder if they have male friends. I do and it’s perfectly normal and okay for a man and woman to be colleagues and friends and that’s it. I ship Westallen hardcore and even I can admit that he had chemistry with Felicity. He has NONE with Caitlin, yet here we are. SB has its fans but WA also has a disadvantage with the fandom even before the show aired. I remember before the 1st episode was on tv people were ALREADY complaining how they didn’t like the change on Iris and that they are y knew they weren’t shipping her with the show’s superhero . People were shipping Snowbarry BEFORE The flash even started. Dosent that tell you something? I’m proud of Iris/Westallen Fans it is evident we since day 1 have to be constantly fighting a battle to protect Iris and I say we’re doing a pretty good job considering the odds.

Iris, obviously! They actually have chemistry and a good potential story. The writers didn’t just throw them together or have Iris already be in love or consciously in love with Barry, which is good. It gives you something to root for. Caitlin loves Ronnie, and they are setting up a potential story with her and Ronnie as Firestorm and what they will likely do with Caitlin’s character. And Felicity loves Oliver, Oliver loves Felicity, they are on different shows.

I’m in love with Barry and Iris, especially after the mid-season finale, and i can’t wait to see them together! I also really like Caitlin and Ronnie together! Barry loves Iris, and Caitlin loves Ronnie. This is the show. There is absolutely ZERO romantic vibe between Barry and Caitlin..They look like Brother and Sister..same as Caitlin and Cisco. Felicity and Barry had a connection, but they know they’re better as only friends. And Linda is meant to be a temporary thing..so, let’s not try to create some unnecessary ship war drama..It’s good to see a CW show that for once don’t have this kind of ridiculous drama.

That’s a lie. 1) because it’s not a secret he would have shared with Caitlin by his own choosing. Leaning by default through your job as his doctor doesn’t count. 2) She’s not the only woman who cares about Barry. 3) Considering how Dr. Wells seems to have overlook all of Barry’s care, she doesn’t really get credit for “curing” him as if Wells and Cisco didn’t help, too.

If Felicity treated Oliver like Caitlin treats Barry, then I would agree. But since Felicity has been dtf Oliver since he walked in her office, and the first thing Caitlin said, besides pee in a cup, was talk about her dead fiance, I don’t see how Barry/Caitlin’s even an option. Caitlin’s so in love with Ronnie that she’s STILL wearing her engagement ring after she thought him dead for nine months. Now, she has the chance to get back what she thought she lost. How can you not root for Caitlin having a second chance with the love of her life?

Barry and Iris just can’t work out together right away. Barry needs to
learn to live as a superhero (please, let’s not have them as a couple
just so they can break up 34 seconds later because “Iris, being with me puts you in harm way. I have to let you go.” Please not this hideous
cliché. Barry can have that with Linda.) and Iris… well, she loves Eddie
and is busy starting her career. Barry’s confession shouldn’t suddenly
make her love him (/realize she always did), give up on Eddie, or learn
the truth about The Flash, etc… So that leaves us with a very broken
Snowstorm soon (if we believe the recent teasing) and WA not happening for real anytime soon. I’m totally okay for some SB in between. (and don’t get me starting on how tragically epic it would be with Caitlin’s future, I just live for angst and tragedy. KF is not an argument against
SB, it works for it.)
So really, I don’t ship (and I hate that word anyway, I’ve been fangirling and loving several couples in the same show for over a decade and it bothered no one until this became so hip) SB for now, but I found their relationship the most interesting. The way they help each other move on from their impossible love, the way the make each other smile, care for each other… It’s an amazing friendship entirely build in front of us since episode 1 and it’s beautiful. WA doesn’t make me fangirl like this because it’s not a question of “what if”, but “when” they’ll become something… SB is mysterious, curious…

if they’re not forcing the romance, they’re forcing us to like them. I agree, Iris had her whole life to tell him too. If Barry wouldn’t have said anything, she would’ve marry Eddie, it’s ridiculous that she didn’t know about her own feelings… i’m a fan of the comics, but i don’t like this version of this romance.

No one is forcing you to like them, for there is nothing to force the fact of the matter is that Barry and Iris love each other they have been best friends were there for each other, believed in each other, and supported one another for 14 years, yet for whatever reason you feel as though their relationship progression is somehow invalidated because Iris didn’t ‘put out’ for Barry at some point during their relationship. Barry and Iris already have a beautiful and genuine basis for a relationship yet you feel the need to invalidate it just because Barry’s confession truly shook Iris and may have forced her to face the feelings for Barry she has apparently kept hidden. If this is the case I truly question your view on the world and opinion on what love actually is.

I never said that she should’ve put out with Barry, I’m just saying that she could say something too. I find hard to believe that a beautiful girl who is also close to him couldn’t say anything about those ‘feelings’ either. That’s my view, not the one you brought up.

So, because Iris is pretty, she should automatically be able to vocalize her feelings for her best friend? That makes absolutely no sense. By that logic, Barry is a handsome guy and also close the Iris and he waited 14 years. How do you give Barry slack, but deride Iris? That’s pretty unfair.
What I will say is this: there’s a person Barry as expressed no romantic desire towards. Her name is Caitlin and Barry’s not checking for her. AT ALL.

Except Caitlin is also starting to develop feelings for Barry. It was obvious in the last episode.

Hilariously enough because it was quite obvious that Barry doesn’t see her like that. The funny thing is that the writers have made it painfully clear that Caitlin will always be Barry’s second… wait not even second since he is obviously more interested in Linda than he ever was in Caitlin…maybe third…nope there was Felicity as well… If your lucky Caitlin may be Barry’s fourth choice. Its both humorous and sad that Caitlyn×Barry fans are okay with that… No matter what Barry Allen will always choose Iris West It’s as simple as that.

Barry and Iris are the be-all and end-all for me, but that doesn’t mean I begrudge hm a little fun with Linda. I just hope Linda and Iris get to become friends, because their relationship in the comics is one of my faves and The Flash is sorely lacking in female camaraderie.

I think it’s pretty obvious that Barry and Iris belong together. Can’t really see him with Linda, Felicity, or Caitlin. Seeing as neither Caitlin or Barry have any romantic interest towards each other, the Felicity/Barry ship has sailed, and Linda and Barry’s relationship is destined to be short lived. On a slightly more positive note here’s to hoping people stop pitting the women of the Flash against each other and deducing that their sole purpose is to “win” Barry Allen’s affection.

The lovely Iris of course! She is the love of Barry’s life, soul mate, future wife and mother to his kids. There is no one else for him. In fact, Iris and Barry were such an iconic couple in the comics that only death was able to part them, and sometimes not even that. #WestAllen is forever!

Iris of course. Caitlin still loves Ronnie. Felicity is in love with Oliver Queen (besides Felicity is on a different show ) and Linda marries Wally West. I much prefer to guess which season will Barry and Iris marry.

Westallen all day everyday…felicity is nice but she belongs with oliver…Linda is here only to make Iris jealous…..and caitlin..umm…i cant even…besides that they dont have an ounce of spark b/w them she loves Ronnie…though I also ship her with cisco (killervibe)!!

I’m sorry but how is Caitlin even linked to Barry in this poll? Other than fandom crack ship, the actual show has not made Caitlin Snow even remotely linked to Barry in a romantic light. She is in love with her FIANCE Ronnie, and Barry is in love with Iris, and trying to move on with Linda. I just don’t see the point in constantly putting Caitlin in this polls when there is nothing going for them in the show.

Iris, no question! She is beautiful and they are perfect together! The other girls are not right for him. Felicity loves Oliver (and plus she’s on another show, so…), Barry is just using Linda to get over Iris, and Caitlin and he are just friends, and she is like his big sister. Caitlin also has Ronnie, who is more interesting than her and Barry together. Barry only has eyes for Iris and they belong together. <3 She will eventually wake up and see they are meant to be.
