‘How to Get Away with Murder’ star Viola Davis could be DC’s next Amanda Waller

How to Get Away with Murder -We’re not a movie site, but we do still feel a certain amount of investment talking about TV stars on the big screen, or in this case, a movie-turned-TV star appearing as a role that is already being filled on a TV show.

Specifically, we’re looking at the upcoming film adaptation of “Suicide Squad,” and the widespread reports that the current frontrunner for the Amanda Waller part is known other than “How to Get Away with Murder” star Viola Davis. According to new reports coming in via The Wrap, Davis is in talks right now for a multi-picture deal to take on the ARGUS authority figure, who is played on “Arrow” by none other than Cynthia Addai-Robinson. This movie also has other characters that have been featured in some form on “Arrow,” with Deadshot being the most notable one.

Waller in general has probably been portrayed as a little more evil on “Arrow” and recent comics than she was originally, but there always was some element of tension between her and the Justice League. Even if she is not always the main character, this should be a meaty part for Viola, and one that we certainly understand why she would be interested in playing.

The challenge we presume with the actress is scheduling. The reason that she is only doing 15 episodes a season for her ABC show is schedule-related first and foremost, and this is going to get so much more complicated with further films added. She already was doing other film work before this new offer came along. (Oprah Winfrey was one other name considered at one point for the Waller role.)

The “Suicide Squad” movie is still not coming for well over a year, so for now, why not keep enjoying the current team on “Arrow”? We certainly will.
