‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Amaro faces a difficult challenge

Have you felt a desire for some more Amaro-centric storytelling on “Law & Order: SVU”? If you find yourself answering this with a “yes,” then you may be somewhat thrilled to know that there is an episode coming up later this month that is going to put him in the spotlight.

Unfortunately, this may not be the sort of spotlight that any person wants. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the hardest situations that he could possibly be in. NBC today released the official synopsis for “Padre Sandunguera,” the January 21 episode that will feature his father finding himself in some hot water:

“Amaro’s father, Nicolas (guest star Armand Assante), asks his estranged family to attend his marriage to 28-year-old Gabriella Nuñez (guest star Katty Velasquez), and despite their volatile past, all but Amaro agree. When a fight breaks out at the wedding and Nicolas is put in handcuffs, Amaro becomes a witness in a case that could expose family secrets and tear his family apart.”

Throughout the episode, we expect there to be a whole variety of challenges, beginning with how Amaro handles the situation with his family, and then handles it with the police. The guy ultimately cannot catch a break. Earlier this season, his major story was trying to deal with being away from the rest of the SVU, and now that he is back, there is a variety of other problems that he has to deal with.
