‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: Natalie Dormer hopes to return as Irene Adler / Moriarty
One of the stories that we’ve frequently reported on when it comes to Irene Adler / Moriarty on “Elementary” is that casting Natalie Dormer for the role, while a great choice, comes with a very extensive set of complications.
For example, one of the biggest ones is just that Dormer has so much going on. She is a regular on “Game of Thrones,” she has a major role in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” that requires a press tour even after filming, and has other movie projects in the works. You basically have to take advantage of when you can get her on the show, even if that is a very short period of time.
Dormer did an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit today, and when asked about the “Elementary” experience, and if she would want to return, she had the following to say:
“[It’s] effing FANTASTIC, I love playing Moriarty! And I love being in New York, I hope very much to return. I’m just lulling Sherlock into a false sense of security.”
As for whether or not this return would happen this season, the jury’s still out on that. We imagine that if she did, a suitable time for it could be at some point early next year. “Game of Thrones” is not filming then, and the promotional push is not until later in the year. Alas, we’re not sure about her film production schedule, or if there are any major commitments that would come up as a result of all that.
All we know is that the story will go on regardless for “Elementary,” and in the event that Moriarty does not grace the screen soon, hopefully the series is going to find someone else to serve as a great villain for the time being.
