‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: How will ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ change this world?

Agents of SHIELD -In some ways, titling this “Agents of SHIELD” article with “season 2” in the title is somewhat of a misnomer, given that we are talking more about something here that could be a storyline for the show’s potential third season: What sort of impact the upcoming “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” has overall on this universe.

Are we going to see something crazy take place in the movie that could shake up the show in the way that “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” did? The answer to that may somewhat be a mixture of “yes” and “no.” As executive producer Jed Whedon explained in a new interview with Comic Book Resources, there is a certain inevitability that comes with the show and the movie crossing paths in some ways:

“It’s one world. There is no way, I don’t think, that the movie can impact us as much as ‘Winter Soldier’ did last year, which destroyed our organization. [Laughs] But yes. It is one universe, so it would be strange if it didn’t.”

Granted, let’s not count any super-powered chickens before they hatch here. ABC still has to greenlight a third season of the show, and the ratings have been decent at best so far. While there is value in the Marvel license, one thing you have to continue wondering is if superhero shows are a little too niche for major network TV. The reason why “The Flash” and “Arrow” thrive is because they never feel that same amount of pressure.

What do you think: If “Agents of SHIELD” lasts long enough, should the movie have an enormous impact on the show? Let us know with a comment, and head over here to preview directly the next new episode! You can also sign up if you want to get some more scoop on everything we cover, sent
