ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 8 spoilers: Joe Morton on if Rowan can be stopped

We’ve known for much of the past year and a half on “Scandal” that Rowan is not a good guy. He is manipulative, quick-tempered, and obsessed with power. He is also so unique that he is a near-impossible man to stop.

This is where there are more than just a few simple problems going into the new episode of the show airing on ABC Thursday night. We’ve seen B613’s own Tom sell Rowan out, but there is still a long and difficult road ahead to this man being taken down once and for all. This is something that Joe Morton teases to The Hollywood Reporter, when asked if someone like Jake or Huck could actually defeat his character:

“[Not] unless Rowan has a teacher because he taught Jake how to be Command; he taught Huck everything about B613 … So unless someone comes along who thinks much the way Rowan does and can beat him to the punch — out maneuver him in this chess match — that would be the only way.”

To a certain extent, Rowan does feel like a character with a limited shelf life. The longer that you keep him on, the more unlikely his situation seems. He is a guy who burns big, and eventually, you have to think that this is going to lead to him burning out. Really, it is just a question of when more so than anything else.

We’ll have some further updates on this episode tonight, including a full review of everything that transpires. Just be sure to stay tuned right now!
