‘Supernatural’ season 10, episode 5 (200th episode) review: Destiel, Chuck, and other ‘Fan Fiction’ wonders
If you hated the 200th episode of “Supernatural,” we have one simple question for you: Are you a major fan of the show? Not to rag on anyone who rejected “Fan Fiction,” but this felt like such a love letter that it was impossible to hate it.
There was comedy in the hour, references to Sam and Dean’s entire journey, and so many meta-jokes that Robbie Thompson deserves a crown for his role in all of this. Sam and Dean saw a “play” put on about their lives, and saw almost what the audience sees all of the time. Yep, that means everything from Destiel (Dean / Castiel) fandoms, new dynamics for the Winchester brothers, and a variety of other things. Overall, it’s nice to see an acknowledgement of everything in there, given that these surprises are all things that any normal show would be afraid to do.
Also, wasn’t it appropriate that Chuck of all people had a cameo during the episode? While he did not have an enormous role, it’d been a long time since we’ve seen God grace this show, and yes, it feels pretty fun to even say that.
We know in the coming days that there will be people who try to analyze every in-joke, the musical moments, an everything else. For now, we’re just enjoying the ride. We had so much fun with this story that we did not look at it critically. We just looked at it from the vantage point of someone who really loves “Supernatural.” Grade: A.

I liked the whole idea of them seeing what we see, but lets face it, the show lacked mystery and suspense. The whole idea of that monster was pretty stupid since they introduced it right away and killed it with such ease.

I hated this episode more than anything i’ve ever seen in a T.V show. Every time i hear singing in the show, i have to skip through it, it makes me cringe so bad. I know that most of the viewers are women, but this is ridiculous.

LOVED it! One of the best episodes ever. Made me proud to be a fan. Hilarious exchanges between San and Dean both in dialog and expressions, and loved the bit about the Samulet. Now, we just need to see Sam replace the prop one with the real one–because he may have taken it out of the trash. What a delightful hour!

Yes, it was a decent epi… but I still think they need to tie things up and let this be the last season.

Absolutely loved this episode. There are so many references to things that just seemed like they were tossed to the side in previous episodes (Dean’s amulet, Adam’s current status, and even Chuck’s cameo). The acknowledgement of these things could potentially mean that they will be revisited in future episodes which does nothing more than add excitement to the series.
