‘Sherlock’ season 4: Benedict Cumberbatch and the art of drawing

Sherlock season 3When you are constantly in the headlines, there is a certain amount of pressure that comes along with that. Everyone wants to know what you are seeing and doing at every given moment, and there is a certain amount of pressure that goes along with that.

So how does Benedict Cumberbatch try to get away from some of this madness? It is not always easy, but even the “Sherlock” star finds a way to relax when he is not filming the BBC series or the millions of other things that he has on the go.

Speaking out on the subject of hobbies in an interview airing on The Andrew Marr Show, the actor made it clear that he has a few specific techniques that he uses to handle constant attention:

“I try to normalise it – friends and family, things that I’ve known longer than any of this nonsense, and nature, moving on from being observed in that manner … (And) a little bit of drawing. I do a little bit of pen and ink but canvas work has been a little while off, I need the space and a bit more time. But, yeah, I love sketching still, really love that.”

The funny thing is that it is very likely that Benedict will have to deal with even more of this madness than ever before in the near future, given that he also has a very enormous role coming up in the “Doctor Strange” movie. In between the film and the fourth season of “Sherlock,” he has more on his plate than most actors.
