‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Iggy Azalea performs ‘Fancy,’ ‘Black Widow’ with Rita Ora, ‘Beg for It’
Tonight’s “Saturday Night Live” episode contained many surprises, but to us one of the biggest ones was seeing musical guest Iggy Azalea leading off with her huge hit from earlier this year in “Fancy.”
If this was April or May, we would have thought for sure that this would be a song that she would perform on the show. After all, this is already played out to a certain extent.
As it turned out, though, there was a twist! Iggy stopped her flagship song after a minute or two of it, and then carried into her latest hit in “Black Widow.” Was this a smart move? We’d say so, especially since she did not have Charlie XCX there to do the chorus on “Fancy.” Not only that, but she did have Rita Ora present to take on the part in “Black Widow” that is designated for her.
Admittedly, this was something we were worried about with Iggy going into this show: Whether or not she’d be able to do many of her hits without her usual collaborators present.
At the end of the show, Iggy came back with her new single “Beg for It,” but after she came out and did a funny little cameo during the sketch featuring Jim Carrey and Kate McKinnon dancing around the entire studio stressed as the character from the Sia hit “Chandelier.” It was a nice little way to integrate her into the show more.

The lip-syncing in the first song was atrocious. And the second song was awful cause the mics were actually on and the vocals sounded like dying animals. Yes, she can dance and entertain, but if you are going to lip-sync, know your own music. I actually enjoy Iggy’s music, but this performance was terrible.

Really? Not one word about her awful lipsyncing to the point she mouthed words to lyrics not present??
